Privacy policy

Draft. This page has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Do not rely on it for a real launch until it has been.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, phone if you give it); the listing details you enter when selling a car; the photos you upload; a photo of your V5C logbook and MOT certificate if you list a car; and any message you send through an "Enquire" form, along with your name and email.

Why we collect it

To run your account, show your listing to buyers, let a human check your V5C and MOT against what you have listed before it goes live, and pass enquiry messages to the right seller. We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Who we share it with

The services that host and run OpenHood: Supabase (database, file storage, accounts), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (sending emails). They process data on our behalf under their own data-processing terms; we do not share your data with anyone else.

V5C and MOT documents

These are stored privately and are never shown publicly or to other users. Only you and OpenHood staff reviewing your listing can access them.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterwards for records. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time (see "Your rights" below).

Cookies

We use one strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
